Efficiency and Effectiveness

Patrick Morley, in his book The Man in the Mirror, distinguishes between efficiency and effectiveness.
Efficiency, he says, is doing the job right. Effectiveness, on the other hand, is doing the right job.  Some people do their job well, but they are doing the wrong job.

There is no real benefit to either the person or the company if we do the wrong job-right.  We need to make sure we are doing the right job. Excellence comes when we do the right job in the right way.
